Hello! I'm Doc Mac

I help residency programs navigate resident remediation with clarity, confidence, and defensibility.

I’m an Education Specialist in Graduate Medical Education with over a decade of experience supporting faculty, program leadership, and learners in high-stakes academic environments. I work at the intersection of education, documentation, and risk, helping programs move away from vague, inconsistent remediation practices and toward structured, fair, and defensible processes that truly support resident growth.

My belief is simple

resident remediation should be fair, defensible, and effective.

Too often, remediation becomes overwhelming, not because programs don’t care, but because they lack a clear framework. Inconsistent expectations, unclear documentation, and ad hoc decision making can put programs at risk for grievances, appeals, and accreditation concerns, while leaving residents confused about how to improve.

Remediation doesn’t have to be complicated to be effective. When expectations are clear and processes are structured, remediation becomes a tool for growth rather than a source of stress.

Why I created the Elevate Framework

Resident Remediation Should Be Simple

I created the ELEVATE Framework to give residency programs a practical, step by step approach to remediation that balances fairness for residents with defensibility for programs.

The framework is grounded in adult learning principles, accreditation expectations, and real world program constraints. It helps faculty document performance clearly, set measurable expectations, align remediation plans to competencies and milestones, and guide residents forward with confidence.
